9/27 - White Eagles Over-30 : Sportfriends Old Boys                3:2
Rakonjac (2), Nozinic (1)

The first win for the White Eagles Over-30 team was well deserved.  After two away games to start the season, a game on the Serbian Land in Hope, NJ was just what the team needed.  Familiar grounds with about 50 fans in attendance helped the team to a 3 - 0 lead.  Sportfriends came back with two late goals, however it was too little too late for the visitors from Wayne.

White Eagles absorbed early pressure from the visitors and then struck on two counter attacks as Milun Rakonjac finished both late in the first half.  Vladislav Nozinic added a third for the White Eagles midway through the second half.

9/27 - White Eagles Open : Vistula SC                4:3
Bojovic (2), Siljanovski (2)

After watching the Over-30 team come away with 3 points, the Open team impressed with a thrilling victory over the current Champion League champions from Garfield.  The only blemish was a serious injury to the White Eagles captain, Radoslav "Raki" Bojovic who had to get seven stitches after the game.

Vistula jumped out to quick 2 - 0 after the home team came out with a weak attitude.  Quickly the formation was changed to put Marko Supica in the back and to switch Jeff Rigby to his familiar midfield role. Bojovic scored just before the half to cut the lead to 2 -1.  Bojovic scored again before his injury to tie the game.  Vistula quickly regained the lead on a quick counter, however David "Deni" Siljanovski scored the 3rd  and 4th goals for the White Eagles to take home 3 points in the ultra competitive Champions League.

An impressive day for the club as all 6 points were taken or "kept" home for both the Over-30 and Open teams.

9/20 - Ballyowen : White Eagles Over-30                9:5
Dobrijevic (2), Topic (1), Bursac (1), Trailovic (1)

A humiliating defeat for the White Eagles.  Even though the White Eagles fought hard in the first half, however the lack of discipline and lack of substitutes caught up to the team.  Ballyowen is an experienced team that made the White Eagles pay for every mistake.

9/20 - Polonia : White Eagles Open                3:4
Bojovic (2), Charnecky (1), Dobrijevic (1)

White Eagles opened up the 2009/2010 Champions League season with a hard fought 4:3 win against an ambitious Polonia team.  Polonia has their sights set on great things for the upcoming season, however their lack of finishing did them on this night. Even with one player less White Eagles managed to completely destroy the opponent at the end. Polonia started off good and scored the first goal 15 minutes in the first half after the injured full back Milan Stevanovic tried to send the ball along the line but was cut off by the attacker who carried the ball in the box and scored from about 10 meters, the ball went into the net right next to the right post. Few minutes after there was another goal scored by Polonia which gave them a 2:0 lead. This was just a lucky start for Polonia because the lead didn't last too long. Less than five minutes after Polonia scored, the ball was played from the center back to the White Eagle's goal keeper and from about 65 meters the goal keeper kicked the ball and managed to score because Polonia's goal keeper was to far from the goal and didn't have time to get back. This was an expected but yet an amazing goal. Then deep into the second half  David "Dany" Siljanovski made an amazing run through the Polonia defense but was brought down right before he was about the shot and there was the penalty kick for White Eagles. Sasa Dobrievic was precise from the white spot and brought the tie to the team. Then in the second half there was a goal scored by our center forward "Raki" Bojovic who brought the lead to the team. Not to long after that the ball was played from the right side into the box where again "Raki" Bojovic was in the right spot at the right time and scored his second goal. That was a beautiful header which secured victory. Towards the end of the match Polonia managed to scored from the penalty kick that was given to them after our defender Naume "None" Matlioski brought down the Polonia attacker in the box. Very debatable call by the  linesman referee but still accepted by the center referee. In the last 15 minutes of the match White Eagles reinforced the defence, kept possession of the ball and just waited until the referee made the final call. With twice as more players Polonia still lost this match. While Polonia used substitutions and fresh legs, White Eagles with less players and even out of those 10 that were on the field some of them injured, used experience and knowledge to dominate and win this game.
White Eagles, with their experience and resiliency, made Polonia pay for every mistake in the back four.

9/13 - Haledon Pythons : White Eagles Over-30                3:2
Dobrijevic (1), Rakonjac (1)

The White Eagles Football Club for the first time in over 15 years of existence entered an Over 30 team in the North Jersey Soccer League - World Division.

The team started fantastically with a goal from Milun Rakonjac in the 20 minute.  The lead was stretched to 2:0 after Ratko Trailovic was taken down in the penalty area and Dalibor Dobrijevic converted from the penalty spot.  However the Haledon team showed fighting spirit and pulled one back just before the halftime break.  They tied the game with 20 minutes to go and eventually took a 3:2 lead 10 minutes from time.  Even though the White Eagles applied constant pressure at the end of the game they did have enough strength to equalize.

It was a good learning experience for the newly formed team that will compete in the Over 30 division for years to come.  Most of the players are former Champions League players from the White Eagles open team, therefore great things are expected from this group as the season continues.

10/4 - White Eagles Open : Sport Club Portuguese                0:0

The White Eagles split the points with the 5-time Champions League champion Sport Club Portuguese.  The game was played at an extremely high level both physically and tactically.  There were few opportunities for either team.

White Eagles looked the better side in the opening 15 minutes of the game as Raki Bojovic and Vladimir Bozovic had a couple of half chances in the opening quarter of the game.  As the game wore on, the experienced Portuguese team settled in and took control of possession towards the end of the first half.

The second half physical play resulted in the referee handing out more than eight yellow cards however there were no ejections.  The best chance for the White Eagles was an indirect free kick from about 12 meters away that Deni Siljanovski and Phil Swenda could not complete.  The Portuguese had there own chances and should have taken the lead 10 minutes from time when their central midfielder could not covert from 5 meters away into an open net.

At the end of the day both teams could be satisfied with a hard-earned point.

Game Reports

10/8 - Vistula Over-30 : White Eagles Over-30                7:1
M. Rakonjac (1)

A bad loss for the White Eagles Over-30 team as Vistula brought in many players from their open team for this game.  The game could not have started worse, as Vistula took the lead in the first minute.  After this goal, White Eagles had to open up their defensive formation.  After the first goal was conceded, the team played well and had a couple of chances to tie the game while the White Eagles goalie Mirko Raketic made a few tremendous saves to keep the team in it.  The second and third goals for the Polish team came just before half-time which completed deflated the team.

Substitutions were made at half-time however they did not turn the tide.  Another loss in an up-and-down year for the club.  Despite the loss, spirits are high among the players as the team still has a long way to go to round into shape.

10/4 - White Eagles Over-30 : Parsippany Blues Over-30                5:0
B. Radan (2), V. Nozinic (2), M. Rakonjac (1)

The White Eagles Over-30 team routinely earned another 3 points in the North Jersey League - World Division.  After a brief opening period of testing the skill of the opposing Parsippany Blues, it was evident that the team was superior to the opponent technically and tactically.

Borislav Radan pounced on a loose in the box to open the scoring at 1-0.  Vladislav Nozinic increased the lead to 2-0 before the first half whistle.  Coach Zoran Balac used this game to try different formations and players in new positions as the final result was never in doubt.

Milun Rakonjac scored in his fourth straight game for the club to make the lead 3-0.  Radan and Nozinic added another two goals late to make the final score 5-0.  The White Eagles has many more opportunities to score, however the lack of concentration kept the score line at "only" five.

Now that the team has almost completed its full registration of players, the rest of the season is filled with optimism.

Team: Mirko Raketic (-), Denis Bursac (6.5), Milan Topic (7), Dalibor Dobrijevic (6), Vladimir Doncov (6), Goran Srejic (6.5), Vladislav Nozinic (7), Miki Klajic (5.5), Dragan Vasic (6), Borislav Radan (7), Milun Rakonjac (6.5), Dragan Vujanovic (-), Aleksandar Matijasevic (6.5), Zoran Balac (-), Slavko Gavrilovic (7), Christopher Charnecky (7), Ratko Trailovic (6.5)

Polinia : White Eagles Open  2 : 3  (10/10/09)
Milan Stevanovic (1) , Roy Thompson (1), Radoslav Bojovic "Raki" (1)

October 11th, 2009

White Eagles again showed its quality and experience last night on the field by beating Polonia for the second time on the same field. White Eagles started the game off very well since they already knew what strategies and techniques Polonia uses. Close to the twentieth  minute in the first half our mid fielder Milan Stevanovic took the lead by scoring the first goal from about 18 meters. The ball was played to him towards the right side by the striker Dado Bozovic where Milan Stevanovic received the ball and finished it off by placing the ball in the upper left corner of the goal and beat Polonia's goal keeper who couldn't do anything about it. It is safe to say that White Eagles dominated the game during the first half of the match. Soon after the first goal there was the second goal scored by Roy Thompson. The ball was played from the middle of the field down the line where Roy Thompson received it and then made a beautiful run by skipping two of the Polonia defenders and scored as soon as he entered the box.

In the second half Polonia came back and scored their first goal and reduced the lead to 2:1 for White Eagles. This was not something to be too worried about but yet it had to be taken seriously. By changing the strategy White Eagles secured the victory when the captain Radoslav "Raki" Bojovic scored the third goal after everything was clear. Striker Radoslav Bojovic received a beautiful thru ball sent to him from the midfield where he managed to avoid the offside and beat the goal keeper "one on one" and then finish it off and shake the net of Polonia team. The third goal was scored 15 minutes before the end of the match. Few minutes after  White Eagles scored the third goal Polonia managed somehow to score their second goal which did not help them much because there was only a couple of minutes left before the game ended. At this point the it was clear that there was no more hope for Polonia team.

Once again White Eagles showed that they are unbeatable.

White Eagles Over 30 - Korona Wallington                0:3

The White Eagles suffered its fourth loss of the season, as Korona Wallington was the better team on this day.  Korona opened the scoring in the 28th minute from the penalty spot.  Vladislav Nozinic had tremendous opportunity to level the score five minutes from the half but Korona's goalie made an impressive save from ten meters away.

The play started to slow down in the second half as the field started to get progressively worse as the rain leading up to the game made the field extremely wet and muddy.  White Eagles produced pressure however they could not convert on their opportunities.  Korona added a second goal in the 70th minute, as an offside trap was not called by the referee.  White Eagles continued to attack, however the finishing was lacking.  Korona added a third in the 90th minute as the White Eagles pushed everyone forward.

Not a poor performance by the White Eagles, but on this day, the lack of goal scoring touch did the team in.  The team looks to pick up six points in the next two matches as they play Livingston on Wednesday 11/4 in South Orange and Denville on Sunday 11/8.

Roster: V. Doncov (6), M. Topic (5.5), D. Dobrijevic (6), D. Bursac (7), S. Gavrolivic (6.5), G. Srejic (6.5), V. Nozinic (7), M. Klajic (6), D. Vasic (7), M. Rakonjac (6.5), B. Radan (6.5) - A. Matijasevic (6.5), M. Raketic (6.5), Z. Balac (-), D. Koncarevic (-)

White Eagles Open - Polonia SC                3:1

The White Eagles Open team added another three points with a win over Polonia on a chilly day at the White Eagles soccer facility.  The team remains undefeated and has its sights set on the Champions League crown if the continue to play the same way.

The first big opportunity was when the team captain, Radoslav Bojovic, was brought down in the box in the 22nd minute after a harsh challenge from one of the Polonia defenders.  "Dado" Bozovic took the penalty kick, but he banged it off the left post.  Ten minutes later he made up for the miss by pouncing on a rebound in the box to open the scoring for the White Eagles.  Score 1:0 at the half.

Polonia pressed for an equalizer in the early moments of the second half and were rewarded as a blast from about 30 meters away found the upper-right corner of Mirko Raketic's goal - 1:1.

There was little fluidity to the game as the field was in bad condition because of all the rain in the month of October.  The conditions threw off the White Eagles as they could not put together their precise short passing on a consistent basis.
However, ten minutes from time Erkan Zekiroski blasted a free-kick into the net that put the home ahead 2:1.  "Deni" Siljanovski finished Polonia off as he added a third.  White Eagles - Polonia 3:1.

White Eagles Open - Real Wyckoff                4:0
Radoslav Bojovic (2), David Siljanovski (2)

White Eagles Open team rebounded from their loss on Wednesday night by staying undefeated at home.  White Eagles opened the scoring with a long throw in by Aleksandar Savic down the line to Raki Bojovic, Bojovic controlled the ball cut into the box, beat two defenders, and slid the ball into the net past the Wyckoff keeper.  A typical goal scored by the captain, who has been scoring goals for the White Eagles for over ten years.  Bojovic played a part in the second goal for the home team ten minutes later as he set up Deni Siljanovski for an easy finish.  It should have been 3-0 at the break but Siljanovski missed a penalty kick.

The second half started with more of the same, as Wyckoff could not contend with long balls sent up to the White Eagles forwards.  Bojovic scored in the 65 minute to make it 3-0 and Siljanovski added another for 4-0.

Only blemish on the day was a bad injury sustained by Erkan Zekiroski who in the dying minutes of the game injured his left knee.

A minute of silence was held before the game in respect to the passing of the Serbian Orthodox Church leader, Patriarch Pavle.  Players and coaches wore black armbands to honor the passed head of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Denis Bursac (3), Vladislav Nozinic (3), Milun Rakonjac (2), Miki Kljajic (1), Dalibor Dobrijevic(1)

The first round of the Mel Smith cup did not bring a challenge to the White Eagles Over 30 team.  Montville came to the White Eagles soccer complex from another division in the North Jersey Soccer league and the difference in quality among the teams was evident from the opening moments.  White Eagles quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Vladislav Nozinic  put one in for the home team in the 15th minute.  Montville scored to equalize a few moments later on a defensive mistake in the White Eagles defense.  Order was restored when Milun Rakonjac scored to make it 2-1 and 3-1 and Dobrijevic scored from the penalty spot to make it 4-1 at the break.

FC Secaucus - White Eagles Open                2:1
J. Rigby (1)

The White Eagles Open team suffered their first loss of the year on a cold night in Parsippany.  The visitors managed two goals on two shots to take all three points.  With the loss, the White Eagles will allow SC Portuguese to leap them in the standings.

The team looked lethargic in the opening 20 minutes as FC Secaucus showed why they entered the Champions League, they were fit and contested every 50/50 ball.

Jeff Rigby opened the scoring for the White Eagles in the 32 minute, but soon it was 1:1 as a Secaucus forward ran onto a through ball and coolly flipped it past the keeper.

The White Eagles dominated the second half, but the team could not produce a breakthrough.  Corner after corner and cross after cross into the box were not converted.  The penalty for missing chances came when Secaucus was awarded a direct free kick at the top of the box and converted on it from about 18 meters away.

After allowing the second goal, the White Eagles began to get frustrated with the constant time wasting and aggressive play by Secaucus.  This led to two red cards given to Mladen Opacic and Dado Bozovic for their altercation in a skirmish with 10 minutes to go.  These players will be severely missed in the next two games, as they will have to sit out their suspensions.

Real Wyckoff - White Eagles Open        1:2
J. Rigby (1), M. Pavlovic (1)

The White Eagles Open team picked up another three points in the race for the Champions League title.  The three points were hard earned, as the host from Wyckoff was extremely hard to break down.

"Deni" Siljanovski and "Raki" Bojovic had two great chances in the opening ten minutes of the game to open the scoring but the Wyckoff goalkeeper made outstanding saves to keep the score at 0:0.  White Eagles dominated possession in the first half but could not produce a goal until Jeff Rigby slammed home a low cross to give the White Eagles a 1:0 lead in the 33rd minute.

In the second half the White Eagles continued with possession but were consistently late on through balls and made to many mistakes in the attacking third to get a second goal.  Wyckoff then scored in the 65th minute off a quickly taken free kick that caught the White Eagles defense off-guard.  After the goal, Wyckoff gained momentum but it seemed that Kamar Samuels who played a great game in the defensive center-half position thwarted every attack.

Coach Vladislav Bogicevic made two critical substitutions in the second half that turned the tide for the White Eagles, "Dado" Bozovic came on the right flank, and a new player from Republika Srpska, Milan Pavlovic was brought in on the left flank.  Their creativity immediately made a difference as they put in fierce crosses in the Wyckoff box.  Three minutes before time, Raki Bojovic plowed his way through the defense and laid off a great ball for Pavlovic to bang home to give the White Eagles the win.

Denville Inter Over 30 - White Eagles Over 30        1:4

The up and down roller coaster known as the White Eagles Over-30 team season continues.  It started with two losses, and then two wins, then two losses again, and followed with another two wins.  The latest win came against Denville this Sunday.

Denville scored in the 21st minute to open the scoring when Mirko Raketic made a diving save to his right only to see the rebound get kicked right back at him while still on the ground.  Ten minutes later Denville appealed for a penalty, which was not given, to make matters worse for Denville one of their players was given a red card for dissent.
The referee essentially decided the game with this call, as the man advantage gave the White Eagles a chance to put together their short passing game.

Vaso Todoric evened the game just before the half with a shot from the left wing - 1:1.  The Milun Rakonjac got his hat trick, he scored in the 50th, 62nd, and 74th minutes.  Rakonjac is the top scorer in the league with ten goals, the Montenegrin has proven to be irreplaceable in the striker position for the White Eagles.  His size and strength simply overpowers smaller defenders.

The White Eagles sit middle of the table as the fall season comes to an end.  White eagles will now play the first round of the Mel Smith cup.

Roster: M. Raketic (7), M. Topic (6.5), D. Dobrijevic (7), D. Bursac (7), S. Gavrolivic (6.5), V. Nozinic (7), M. Klajic (6.5), M. Rakonjac (8.5), A. Matijasevic (6.5), V. Todoric (7), R. Trailovic (7.5) - V. Doncov (7), D. Vujanovic (7)

Livingston Shillelagh - White Eagles Over 30                2:6

The White Eagles Over-30 up-and-down season continues…  The White Eagles made up tonight for two straight losses and a lack of goal scoring in recent games with an impressive win.  Milun Rakonjac scored on left-footed volley in the 2nd minute to immediately give the team confidence.  Rakonjac followed that goal with another five minutes later to make the score 0:2 for the visitors from Paterson.

The 3-5-2 formation worked tonight as Dalibor Dobrijevic brilliantly controlled the back line with two defensive midfielders, Goran Srejic and Ratko Trailovic, in close support.  The formation also freed up Vladislav Nozinic to be a play-making midfielder which suited him well as he played a superb game pulling the creative strings for the team.

0:3 was achieved when Goran Srejic blasted a swerving shot passed the goalie from 25 meters away.  Milun Rakonjac got his hat trick in the 40th minute when he routinely rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball in the back of net to make the score 0:4.  Nozinic added a fifth for the White Eagles just before half time.

Livingston made a push in the second-half and was rewarded with two quick goals to make the score 2:5 with twenty-five minutes to go.  However, White Eagles relieved the pressure when Nozinic scored his second goal on a brilliant give-and-go play with Rakonjac to wrap the game up at 2:6.

Roster: V. Doncov (7), M. Topic (7), D. Dobrijevic (8), D. Bursac (7), D. Koncarevic (6.5), V. Todoric (7), G. Srejic (7.5), R. Trailovic (7.5), V. Nozinic (8.5), M. Klajic (7), M. Rakonjac (8) - B. Radan (7), A. Matijasevic (6.5), Z. Balac (7.5), D. Vujanovic (7)
